Well, to bring you completely up-to-date, I need to add a little about October. Naturally, there will be the trick-or-treating at the end of the month, but this year we added "Brick or Treat" as well by heading up to Legoland Discovery Center near Chicago. AJT07 was somewhat scared with the Lego creatures (some were almost full size) but both girls were willing to wear their costumes to receive Lego brick keychains and to participate in the Halloween scavenger hunt in Miniland (basically the Chicago skyline Lego style). We also had the opportunity to build Sears Tower models which thrilled the girls especially since they saw the Sears Tower on the trip. I know that the Guy in the Big Red Suit is not usually seen at this time of year, but I guess you know where he resides in the fall.
We also made the annual trip to the Zoo for Zoo Boo. This year AJT07 has admitted that her favorite thing was the candy -- but seeing the animals definitely did not hurt. While AJT04 likes seeing some animals, I think that AJT07 loves seeing animals.
Stay tuned as our adventures continue this month and beyond!

September
Since AJT04 started school in mid-August, by the time that September rolled around, we had established a routine with the weekdays, at least. The week-ends provided our chances for other activities.
Over Labor Day week-end we traveled to Ohio to visit relatives; unfortunately, upon our return, AJT04 was diagnosed with an ear infection. She recovered quickly and missed very little school with illness. Then a couple of weeks later the girls' maternal grandparents came our way for a visit and a chance to go to Conner Prairie for Country Fair (and to eat at Red Robin -- AJT07's favorite restaurant).
In between visiting with relatives, we managed a trip to Tuttles Orchard to pick apples and other activities. The girls decided that they needed to pull the wagon and to play in the children's play area (which included a straw maze). Per usual, the girls had a great time and have enjoy apples and applesauce since then.

School Time!
Well, now that AJT04 has been in school for two months, I am finally posting a couple of pictures from the first day of school. Unfortunately, she was so excited about school that most of the pictures of her in the morning were blurry....but you can see that her backpack is almost as big as she is (all kindergarteners are required to have full size backpacks). She did not have a chance to ride the bus in the morning (due to the not-so-great job of informing parents about bus number and time changes), but she did in the afternoon. Everyday she comes home with a smile on her face and eager to tell us about what happened during the day -- I guess with kindergarten you can not ask for much more.
